Effect of Variation of Martensite with a Constant Carbon Content on Mechanical Behavior and Sliding Wear of Dual Phase Steels

چکیده

In a dual phase steel, an increase in the martensite volume fraction leads to decrease its carbon content, and hence, elucidating effect of content on mechanical tribological behaviors has not been possible. For first time, present work dealt with this subject by maintaining constant amount different fractions martensite. Tribological properties was evaluated via pin-on-disk sliding tribometer. The study wear tracks debris revealed oxidative as dominant mechanism. Increasing normal load from 10 30 N resulted specific rate, which related high work-hardening capacity. This higher surface hardness, accommodating formation more durable tribofilm surface, lower coefficient friction. However, 60 rate reduction oxide coverage due stresses. worn were mainly identified metallic running-in stage Fe3O4 steady-state stage.
